Founder & Managing Director of Cognition & Co, Dylan Benyon, has been recognised as one of the Top 200 Young South Africans in the 2021 edition of the Mail & Guardian’s prestigious awards.
This year the Mail & Guardian has once again gone out to search for these dynamic trailblazers, who will leave an indelible mark on our country and the world. Within a list of over 5 000 nominations we have found 200 individuals who have shown Resilience and Innovation for Excellence against a backdrop of the unique and extraneous economic challenges faced globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It is an absolute privilege to receive this award and share a space on this list with so many other incredible young South Africans. I appreciate the recognition for the work that I do in the field of mental health, but we still have a long way to go in breaking the stigma around mental illness in South Africa. Through this platform, I will continue to close the gap between the students and professionals in the field of Psychology, and endeavour to use my progressive approach to aid the destigmatisation of mental illness in South Africa.” – Dylan Benyon
Dylan Benyon founded Cognition & Co in 2018 as a means to advocate for mental health in South Africa and give those wanting to study in the field of psychology a place to find information and networking opportunities. His goal has always been to close the gap between students and professionals by creating mentorship initiatives and hosting conferences that allow the professionals to share their experience and insight with aspiring young students. Benyon is committed to doing all that he can to make mental healthcare accessible and available to anyone who needs it, and hopes to see massive strides taken towards the destigmatisation of mental illness in all societies and cultures in South Africa.
