“Mental Health is not a destination but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” – Noam Shpancer

Every year thousands of students around South Africa will apply and register at tertiary institutions in hopes of pursuing a career in psychology and mental health. While this may seem like simple and solid career choice, the path to becoming a psychologist is not as straightforward as one might think. The road is long and mostly uphill; even when you’re going the right direction, you’ll still feel as though you’re lost.

Cognition & Co represents and supports the students aiming towards a professional psychology registration with the HPCSA. It is for this reason that Cognition & Co adheres to the guidelines outlined by the HPCSA in their endeavor to regulate professional psychology in South Africa, as stipulated under the Health Professions Act 56 of 1974.

Throughout this website, students, graduates, and professionals will find a number of resources aimed at developing a critical understanding of what the route to becoming a Psychologist in South Africa entails. Concurrently, Cognition & Co works tirelessly to develop mental health awareness through a number of conferences, workshops, and podcasts.
