From the very beginning, Cognition & Co has been dedicated to raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and supporting those who study and work with mental illness in South Africa. There are roughly 23 known suicides in South Africa everyday, and only 1 in 10 South Africans living with a mental health condition receives the care they need. As a network for Psychology students, it saddens us to know that up to 12% of South African university students experience moderate to severe depression.

As part of our continued fight against mental illness, we have compiled the following list of organisations and initiatives that provide mental health services that are readily available to anyone that needs them. All of the numbers below are toll-free and can be called from a landline or any mobile network at no cost to the caller.
