A PGCE is an honours level education certificate that can be done by students to convert their qualification to be recognised by the South African Council of Educators. SACE is the professional council for educators that aims to enhance the status of the teaching profession through appropriate registration, management of professional development and inculcation of a Code of Ethics for all educators.
This qualification takes between 1 and 2 years of full-time study. Students must also complete a practical aspect, or teaching practice, that involves teaching at school for a designated period of time under supervision.
